Why a Picture Can Help When Words Run Out
Telling a child the plan again and again is tiring for both of you. A picture on a strip says it once and stays there.
- You repeat 'shoes, coat, bag' every morning and get the same answer.
- A child cannot read yet, so a written list is no use.
- Transitions between jobs are where the fuss starts.
- You want a reward chart that is not a sticker shop.
- One set of cards should work for the school run and the weekend.
How the Routine Cards Work

Put them in order on a wall strip, the fridge or a door.
-

About Picture Schedules
Many families and teachers use picture schedules to show what comes next. This is a printable tool for home and class. It is not therapy, medical advice or a treatment, and it makes no promises about any child's behavior, learning or development.
The cards suit parents of children aged about 3 to 8, preschool and kindergarten classrooms, homeschool days and anyone who likes to show the day in pictures. Young children may need a grown-up to read the short card words with them.
The icons were built from simple shapes with code and checked by Ink and Index. Some of the text and the read-me page were drafted with an AI assistant and edited. Personal use for your own family, or use with one classroom or tutoring group you teach. Please do not resell, share, upload or give away the PDF files, and do not sell the printed pages.
