How the Kits Are Built
Every kit shares one spine: look back, see it, choose, plan and keep going. The picture comes after the plan. In four experiments published in 2011, Annika Kappes and Gabriele Oettingen found that people who indulged in positive fantasies about a wanted future had less energy for it than people who also questioned it, which is why each kit asks for obstacles before it asks for scissors.
